Steve Ordower is dedicated to uniting people through film, television and music production. He is the founder of Rhythm & Light, a Chicago-based production company, set up to enlighten the mind and lift the spirit.
Over the past eight years, Ordower has been involved with projects for The Learning Channel, The Discovery Channel, The Arts & Entertainment Channel, as well as educational and not-for-profit organization productions. Ordower also manages his father’s Emmy Award winning video collection of Gospel Music, from the show Jubilee Showcase.
Steve has recently finished production for THE MAN IN THE SILO, a short film starring Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters / OZ) shot on Super 16mm color, filming in the Los Angeles area, Chicago, and Wisconsin. Ordower wears the hats of Producer, Editor and Sound Designer on this project, and will be moving into post-production early in 2006.
Steve also served as Producer, Editor and Sound Designer for the short film, shot on Super 16mm color entitled, A SERIES OF SMALL THINGS.
This film has had a good run on the film festival circuit, making stops at "The Method Fest," "The Damah Film Festival," where it was nominated for "best in show," and gained an official selection in the "Palm Springs International Film Festival." Steve recently won for "Best Editing" at the "2005 Best of the Midwest Awards."
Ordower's first project with Director Phil Donlon, WRESTLED, which he edited and sound designed, was picked up by IFC (Independent Film Channel) for the 2006 season. The film, shot on 16mm B&W, gained an official selection in the Slamdunk Film Festival in Park City, Utah, and won the “Best Dramatic Short Film” award from the Orion Film Festival in Texas.
He also edited the 60-minute and 15-minute version of a documentary on the death penalty system in Illinois entitled, “Too Flawed To Fix, The Illinois Death Penalty Experience.” Steve is currently developing a seven part documentary series on Gospel Music, which is a joint production with Rhythm & Light and Media Process Group. In the process, Ordower has cultivated a relationship with THE GOSPEL MUSIC CHANNEL by producing and editing four 90-second spots for Black History Month, profiling various legends of Gospel Music.
Ordower began his career managing the Jubilee Showcase collection, making deals with Nightline, 60 Minutes, Blackside, and the Chicago Historical Society, and currently serves on the board of the Chicago Final Cut Pro Users Group.
